About Jack Santucci

I am a political scientist at Drexel University specializing in political parties, electoral systems, and institutional change in the United States.

My first book, More Parties or No Parties: The Politics of Electoral Reform in America (Oxford, 2022), sketched a realignment theory of electoral reform and analyzed historic use (Progressive Era, New Deal) of ‘ranked-choice’ systems in the U.S. It pointed to ‘vote leakage’ as a cause of repeal and suggested party-list reforms instead.

My other projects concern party change, voter uptake of complicated electoral systems, and descriptive representation in local government.

I am looking for a more permanent and/or research-focused position.
